Origins-Session Two

We began this session with one of my favorite sketches: The Shardy Boys and Nancy Draw Mysteries.

Erwin asked “What would happen if the faith lived out in our communities became known everywhere as happened in Thessolonica?”

Erwin unwrapped the context of his book An Unstoppable Force. With so many of the churches across the planet shrinking and struggling to survive, much less reach people, this book is a must-read. When I read it years ago, I found myself challenged on every page. In his talk, Erwin reminded us that “true biblical community is focused outward, meeting the needs of the oppressed, the spiritually-seeking, and those in need.”

The role and responsibility of the spiritual leader remains shaping the culture, the ethos, of our churches. Our greatest challenge is to move personally and to move our community towards biblical values - to live by faith, be known by love, and to be a voice of hope (a living example: Brian Bushway)
