This weekend I had the opportunity to speak at Lake Pointe Church, a mult-site church that originated in Rockwall, TX which has planted several church plants across the U.S. (including a couple in the Mosaic Alliance) as well as some really strategic partnerships around the world. Steve Stroope, Rick Burge, and the team are doing some great things there. (Since we grew up in Dallas/Fort Worth, it was great to be there the same weekend the Texas Rangers clinched a spot in the World Series!)
Here is the message I shared on “Living a Supernatural Life”:
From Philippians 2:1-11, I shared that there are three ways we can live a supernatural life, a life dramatically different than the rest of the world.
1. Make things right.
Conflict is normal. Resolving it isn’t. Only 33% of marriages make it to 25 years. Only 20% make it to 35 years. Only 5% make it to 50 years. At work, managers spend 1-2 days a week just trying to bring conflict resolution.
Making Things Right > Being Right
Whether you are the offender (Matthew 5:23-24) or the offended (Matthew 18:15), we need to take responsibility to make things right.
2. Give yourself away.
If the Creator of the universe became a servant, shouldn’t we?
Do others see you as more concerned about their interests than your own?
3. Get back up!
“Abraham Lincoln withstood the storm of defeat by replacing anguish over an unchangeable past with hope in an uncharted future.” – Doris Kearns Goodwin
“Everything looks like failure in the middle.” – Rosabeth Moss Kanter
Don’t give up too soon! Have you quit when challenges have arisen? If so, get back up!

How have you seen conflict resolved that seemed impossible?
When have you seen someone truly give himself or herself away?
Who have you seen persevere when things got tough?
